Modular design is a revolutionary and versatile concept, allowing for more cost-efficient and sustainable elements to be introduced into architectural projects. Modules can be used as both the building blocks of a structure and standalone elements, adding customisation to projects without incurring excessive costs.

The Modular Architecture Essay competition will run alongside the first in a series of annual design competitions focusing on the concept of modular architecture, in this case using the versatile construction style to design a dream home.

Participants are invited to enter either one or both competitions, with essay submissions looking to provide a critical analysis of how modular design can be used to impact how we conceive the homes of the future.

The Modular Architecture Essay competition is open until July 8, 2021. Winners will be announced on October 14, 2021 and will share a prize fund of 1,000 €.
