Call-for-entries: The Last Nuclear Bomb Memorial

Over the past months the human race has been faced with the killer disease covid- 19. Notwithstanding there is still one massive threat that threatened and still threatens to obliterate the human race if used wrongly: Nuclear Weapons

It’s been 75 years since the US bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, effectively ending World War II and killing well over 100,000 people, the majority of whom were civilians. In support of Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue’s call for the Prohibition of Nuclear weapons, Bee Breeders are calling for submissions for The Last Nuclear Bomb Memorial competition.

For this architecture competition, participants are tasked with creating a memorial in a decommissioned nuclear weapon testing site of their choice. In response to the global silence surrounding the issue of nuclear weapons, participants must submit their designs with no description text. Bee Breeders are asking participants to design a building or structure in which the architecture would do all the talking.

The Last Nuclear Bomb Memorial competition is open until April 21, 2021, with winners of the 6,000 € prize fund to be announced on July 7, 2021.
